• Tokyo on Saturday kicked off a 20-day period during which restaurants that serve alcohol and karaoke venues have been asked by the metropolitan government to shorten business hours to help combat a recent resurgence of coronavirus infections.
  
  
• The government is considering making private health insurance coverage compulsory for overseas visitors to next summer's postponed Tokyo Olympics, sources familiar with the plan said Friday.

• ANA Holdings Inc. said Friday it will raise up to 332.13 billion yen ($3.2 billion) by issuing new shares to bolster its financial base to weather the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and buy new aircraft.
