Through a collection of original Expo 2025 goods made in collaboration with the manga series DRAGON BALL, the EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO is inviting expo visitors to experience the iconic manga beyond the pages of a book.

At the EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO, visitors to the World Exposition in Osaka can get their hands on a product line featuring designs unique to the expo which depict scenes from Akira Toriyama’s DRAGON BALL manga.   

Under the theme MANGA NO SEKAI (The World of Manga), the EXPO2025 with DRAGON BALL collection covers t-shirts, posters, fans and postcards, among other original products. 

Using the original DRAGON BALL manga as its source, the collaboration celebrates manga itself as a cultural asset that Japan can be proud of, aiming to further spread its appeal to the rest of the world. 

At the heart of the collaboration is a visual presented in the style of a traditional Japanese folding screen. The screen is used as a canvas to reinterpret scenes from the original DRAGON BALL manga. 

A fusion of traditional Japanese culture and advanced printing technology, designs were printed on the screen using the cultural reproduction technology, Denshoubi®, from Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), which enables printing on gold leaf. Expo visitors can see the screen on display at the EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO.

Visitors can take home their own display of manga inspired by the folding screen through a series of posters available to purchase at the store. The four posters show the evolution of DRAGON BALL’s main protagonist Goku across iconic scenes to form a single narrative artwork. Scenes on each Specialty Printing Poster are brought to life by the layering of gloss and matte textures, creating a three-dimensional effect.

From manga which fans can put on display to manga which they can wear, the collection brings DRAGON BALL into the world of fashion. Visitors to the expo can wear their memories through one of four t-shirts. Scenes from the manga, including the World Martial Arts Tournament, the awakening of Super Saiyan, and the final showdown with Majin Buu, are printed on the front and back of the t-shirts. 

With elements unique to manga featured in the designs, including panel frames, speech bubbles and text, the Double-sided Print T-shirts, and other items in the collection, pay tribute to the wider world of manga and the excitement that comes with reading it.

The collaboration also matches manga with traditional Japanese design and refined cultural items in the form of folding fans, which are often thought to convey the Japanese sense of “iki,” or elegant simplicity. Unfolding these fans reveals dramatic scenes from DRAGON BALL.

In keeping with an aim to spread the joy of manga, the EXPO2025 with DRAGON BALL collaboration collection includes postcards which visitors can send across borders, sharing their story and a unique experience of manga with others. Postcards are available in four different sets, each containing four designs.

With DRAGON BALL’s appeal spanning generations, as well as countries and regions, the manga was seen as a perfect fit for the collaboration, reflecting Osaka expo’s spirit of “waku-waku,” or excitement, and its power to draw visitors from around the world.

Hundreds of scenes from the original DRAGON BALL manga were carefully selected for this collaboration, with a number of characters from the manga appearing alongside the main protagonist Goku. The Expo 2025 design system was also incorporated into the designs, creating a truly unique product line.

Through the collection, EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO aims to offer visitors an experience of manga that goes beyond the pages of a book. Through fashion, art, and cultural items they can immerse themselves in the world of manga and take home unique memories from the Osaka expo and Japan.  

EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO is a concept store filled with the playful spirit of MYAKU-MYAKU and WAKU-WAKU. Items from the EXPO2025 with DRAGON BALL collection are available to purchase at the store for the duration of the expo.

The EXPO2025 OFFICIAL STORE EAST GATE MARUZEN JUNKUDO is located within the East Gate Marketplace and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. (last entry at 9:20 PM).
