Japan slips to 24th in GDP per capita among OECD members amid weaker yen

TOKYO - Japan's nominal gross domestic product per capita stood at $33,785 in 2024, ranking at record-low 24th among OECD members, reflecting its low growth rate and a weaker yen, the government said Tuesday.

The fall from 22nd place in 2023 in the ranking among the 38 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development underscored the declining presence of the Asian economy on the global stage, economists said.
