TOKYO - Team Mirai, Japan's emerging opposition force focused on artificial intelligence, won its first House of Representatives seat on Sunday, a major breakthrough just six months after gaining national party status.
Mixing online video outreach with street speeches, the party, whose name Mirai means future in Japanese, appealed mainly to younger voters. Leader Takahiro Anno, beaming with a broad smile, said he was "truly happy" and thanked supporters for their backing.
