MILAN - Japanese figure skater Ami Nakai made an impressive Olympic debut Tuesday at the Milan Cortina Winter Games as she topped the women's short program by a narrow margin ahead of star compatriot Kaori Sakamoto.
The 17-year-old Nakai scored a personal-best 78.71 points for the segment against Sakamoto's 77.23, with reigning world champion Alysa Liu of the United States third on 76.59 points at Milano Ice Skating Arena.
