TOKYO - The Group of Seven advanced economies and like-minded countries are holding talks toward reaching a trade agreement for critical minerals amid concerns of an overreliance on China for rare earths and other materials essential for modern industrial technologies, Japanese government sources said Thursday.
Through the envisioned framework, the countries seek to strengthen supply chains in the area such as by cutting tariffs among members and creating a new economic zone for the minerals.
