TOKYO - A Japanese liquefied natural gas tanker has passed through the Strait of Hormuz, in what is known to be the first case since its effective closure amid the war in Iran, a shipping firm said Friday, as resource-poor Japan weighs steps to curb oil demand to brace for energy shortages.
Shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines said the tanker SOHAR LNG had transited through the strait and confirmed the crew were all safe.
