SHANGHAI - Exports to China of fishing gear made in Japan have increased sharply in recent years amid the rising popularity of the activity in the Asian powerhouse.
With Chinese consumers impressed by the durability and user-friendliness of the gear, the value of Japan-made fishing tackle exports to China rose to 18.2 billion yen ($114 million) in 2025, more than tripling from 5.4 billion yen in 2019, according to official statistics.
