KURE, Japan - The Yamato Museum, a maritime history museum in Hiroshima Prefecture, reopened on Thursday after its first major renovation since its 2005 founding with 300 additional items on display, as well as a more realistic one-tenth scale model of the famous battleship Yamato.
The Kure Maritime Museum is based in the city of its namesake. Kure is a naval port where the headquarters of the former imperial navy was located, and where the Yamato was constructed.
