NEW YORK - An exhibition opened Monday at the United Nations headquarters in New York to show the devastation from the 1945 U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as a monthlong nuclear disarmament conference is under way there.
The exhibition, organized by Nihon Hidankyo, Japan's leading group of atomic bomb survivors, features photos and materials related to the nuclear attacks in the closing days of World War II. It will run through June 1.
