TOKYO - The Japan Football Association on Thursday promoted Michihisa Kano to permanent manager of the women's national team after appointing him in a caretaker capacity following the dismissal of predecessor Nils Nielsen.
Kano, who previously served as an assistant under Nielsen, managed Nadeshiko Japan during a three-game international friendly series in the United States last month, going 1-2 against the reigning Olympic champions.
