TOKYO - The leaders of Japan and the Philippines announced Thursday they will begin negotiations to conclude a security intelligence-sharing pact, in their latest effort to boost cooperation amid shared concerns over China's military activities.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also agreed on upgrading the bilateral ties to a "comprehensive strategic partnership," they said at a joint press event after their meeting in Tokyo.
