BEIJING - Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said that the May confirmation by U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping of their shared goal to denuclearize North Korea is "false information," state-run media said Sunday.

The sister, who serves as a senior ruling party official, said in a statement Saturday, "This is nothing but an old practice of the U.S. for spreading false information," according to the official Korean Central News Agency.

Her remarks came ahead of Xi's two-day visit to North Korea from Monday, suggesting Pyongyang does not intend to discuss its nuclear program during a summit meeting between Xi and Kim Jong Un.

"We have the most accurate information about the fact," Kim Yo Jong said, hinting at the possibility that North Korea has been briefed by China about the outcome of the Xi-Trump summit in mid-May held in Beijing.

The White House mentioned the U.S.-China shared goal on North Korea's denuclearization in its fact sheet following the summit, but Beijing did not refer to the issue in its readout.

"We also make it clear that we do not discuss with anyone our core sovereignty and security," the sister said, adding the denuclearization goal "may be a hope" of Washington as some U.S. officials "have failed to wake from their escapist and anachronistic dreams."

"The line of steadily beefing up the nuclear war deterrent" for self-defense, "clarified by the head of state, is an irreversible final conclusion to be carried out unconditionally," Kim Yo Jong said.

Xi is scheduled to visit North Korea for the first time since 2019. During the trip, Xi and Kim Jong Un will "exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest," the Chinese Foreign Ministry has said without elaborating.

Meanwhile, KCNA said Sunday Kim Jong Un inspected a major munitions industrial enterprise the previous day to acquaint himself with the main weapons production in the first half of 2026.

The leader called for boosting the existing production capacity of various ballistic and cruise missiles 2.5 times within the five-year defense development plan period from this year, according to the news agency.
