NEW YORK - NBA free agent Rui Hachimura has agreed to a two-year, $28 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, U.S. sports news outlet ESPN reported Monday, citing sources.
The 28-year-old Japanese forward became an unrestricted free agent after playing for the Los Angeles Lakers under a three-year contract signed in 2023.
The Washington Wizards drafted Hachimura out of Gonzaga University in 2019, making him the first Japan-born player ever to be selected in the first round. He moved to the Lakers in a January 2023 midseason trade.
He played in 68 games in the 2025-2026 regular season, matching his career high from two seasons earlier, also with the Lakers.
