NEW YORK - Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed six innings of one-run ball and earned the 100th win of his combined Japanese and U.S. professional baseball career as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 4-3 on Saturday.
Yamamoto's win at Citi Field was his 30th in Major League Baseball after joining the Dodgers ahead of the 2024 season.
The 27-year-old right-hander recorded all 70 of his Nippon Professional Baseball wins as a member of the Orix Buffaloes.
Yamamoto (11-6) struck out five while allowing five hits and three walks. He surrendered his only run on a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth.
"I'm happy to reach 100 wins," said Yamamato, who threw 65 of his 100 pitches for strikes. "My pitch count ran high and I had to grind it out. Being able to give up only one run over six innings despite such conditions is one area where I've grown."
Two-way star Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-5 batting leadoff as the Dodgers' designated hitter. He postponed a bullpen session scheduled for earlier in the day due to nagging irritation with his left knee.
In other MLB action, Shota Imanaga (7-8) pitched six shutout innings for the Chicago Cubs in their 11-0 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Japanese left-hander allowed four hits while striking out four and walking one as he outdueled Pittsburgh ace Paul Skenes (9-9) at PNC Park.
Seiya Suzuki drove in two runs with a line-drive single to right field in the top of the fifth during a 1-for-5 outing.
