TOKYO - Miwa Harimoto won the women's singles title and her brother Tomokazu retained the men's crown at the WTT Champions Yokohama table tennis event on Sunday.
Top seed Miwa saw off China's Wang Yidi 4-2 in the semifinals before downing defending champion Chen Xingtong by the same score in the final at Yokohama Buntai.
"Honestly, I didn't expect myself to do this well," said the third-ranked 18-year-old, who also won the WTT Champions Chongqing in China in March.
"The top two Chinese players weren't participating this time. I want to try beating players ranked above me this season."
Tomokazu, ranked fifth in the world, upset top seed and third-ranked compatriot Sora Matsushima 4-2 in the semifinals before easing past South Korea's Oh Jun Sung 4-1 in the final.
"It was a really good final," the 23-year-old said. "I received power from my sister from the first round on my way to the top."
