LOS ANGELES - Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored the decisive run as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Monday.
The two-way star doubled in the Dodgers' first run with no outs in the third inning before scoring on a Freddie Freeman single with one out as they cut the deficit to 3-2 at Dodger Stadium.
They turned the game around with a three-run sixth before the Royals scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 5-5.
Ohtani scored the winning run by leading the home half with a single, stole his seventh base of the season -- his first since May 16 -- before again coming home on a Freeman base hit.
Kodai Senga earned his first save in MLB after tossing a shutout ninth with two strikeouts and a walk in the New York Mets' 8-5 win against the Atlanta Braves.
Yuki Matsui (3-1) also picked up the win, throwing a perfect seventh as the San Diego Padres beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2.
