TOKYO - The communications ministry said Wednesday disaster information services have been halted in parts of Japan amid fears of a personal data breach due to unauthorized access to a service provider's system.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications received reports of service suspension or possible personal data leakage from 110 local governments. It has asked Arcadia Inc., which transmits early warning and disaster information by e-mail, telephone and other means as a local government service, to report on the damage.
