BANGKOK - The Group of Seven countries on Thursday reaffirmed their support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, with several members pledging a combined 260 million euros ($291 million) to help repair damage to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the French government said.
The northern Ukraine power plant was attacked by a drone in February 2025, sustaining extensive damage to its large confinement structure covering the reactor destroyed in the 1986 nuclear disaster. Repair work is estimated to cost some 500 million euros.
