Olympics: Pyeongchang to be largest Winter Games yet

A record 2,925 athletes from 92 countries and regions are set to participate in the Pyeongchang Olympics, the local organizing committee said Monday, making the event the largest Winter Games in history.The athletes will compete next month in 102 gold medal events, four more than at the 2014 Sochi Games, the current largest Winter Olympics, which boasted over 2,800 athletes from 88 countries and regions.The Japanese Olympic Committee said Monday it will send a total of 124 athletes to Pyeongchang, the country's largest team to a Winter Olympics held outside the country.
