"Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation" World Premiere Event Report: Voice Cast Takes the Stage!

"Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation" is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ starting Wednesday, October 29th (Japan Time).

The first screening event, "World Premiere Tea Party Opening Celebration!" for the series was held on Sunday, October 26th. The event featured voice cast members Natsuki Hanae-san, Seiichiro Yamashita-san, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi-san, Yohei Azakami-san, and Noriaki Sugiyama-san.

The moment you step inside the venue, guests were welcomed into a luxurious space that brought to life the "Episode of Heartslabyul" world from Season 1! A uniquely designed gate, inspired by the Mirror Chamber and leading to Heartslabyul Dorm (which itself was inspired by Disney's Alice in Wonderland), greeted visitors. Beyond the gate, a garden of red roses bloomed, pristine white-clothed tables were meticulously arranged, and characters stood ready to welcome everyone.

As the guests' excitement reached fever pitch, Headmaster Dire Crowley's narration transported everyone instantly into the world of "Twisted Wonderland".

Amid thunderous applause, five voice cast members took the stage: Natsuki Hanae (Riddle Rosehearts), Seiichiro Yamashita (Ace Trappola), Tatsuyuki Kobayashi (Cater Diamond), Yohei Azakami (Yuuken Enma), and Noriaki Sugiyama (Grim).

Dorm Leader Hanae kicked off the event by asking the invited guests if they would enjoy themselves, to which they enthusiastically replied, "Yes, Dorm Leader!" Yamashita then encouraged everyone to make it a wonderful party without angering the Dorm Leader, while Kobayashi expressed his desire for an "Instagram-worthy day."

Azakami, who joined the cast in the anime adaptation as the voice of Grim, shared his excitement, stating, "Though I'm a 'Twisted Wonderland' newcomer, I hope to enjoy this together with everyone. I'll do my best to liven things up as Grim's voice actor!"

Just before the tea party officially began, Hanae noticed critical omissions: the "white-clothed table" was missing from the stage, and the garden's white roses were "unpainted." To prevent angering Riddle, who strictly adheres to the Queen of Hearts' laws, Hanae signaled for the stage to be perfected, and Yamashita painted the roses red, finally allowing the tea party to commence.

Reflecting on the upcoming animation broadcast, Hanae remarked, "Five years have passed since we recorded the game, and precisely because of that time, we've gained more ways to express ourselves now. I'm delighted that we can show everyone that through the animation." Yamashita highlighted Yuuken Enma as a unique character who "really brings a fresh breeze to the story." Azakami, who voices Yuuken, spoke of the welcoming atmosphere during recording sessions, where the Heartslabyul Dorm voice cast and others embraced him with "open arms," captivating the audience with his passion for the work.

Next, the cast discussed about "what kind of Unique Magic would you want if you could use one?" They revealed their answers on flip boards one by one.

Hanae wished for "Sleep by Nine! (Off To Your Bed!)" which would allow him to sleep by 9 PM by making it seem as if he had already bathed, much to the amusement of the audience. Yamashita desired "Paint All White!" to restore stains on white shirts. Kobayashi hoped for "spatial teleportation," Azakami for "magic that turns everything I eat into protein," and Sugiyama for "portals." Each actor's unique choice excited the audience.

During Q&A session, fans asked about the common points between the cast and their characters. Many agreed that Azakami was "perfect for Yuuken." Azakami humbly responded, "My personality isn't as solid as Yuuken's, but perhaps my voice quality suits him."

Yamashita, contrasting himself with Ace, felt he related more to Deuce, explaining, "Because I don't have those qualities myself, I explored the character like looking in a mirror." Sugiyama, who plays Grim, shared a relatable similarity: "I'm similar in how I lounge around on the sofa and take things easy." Hanae concluded with a humorous take on his character, Riddle, admitting, "Actually, I'm usually really strict, and like Riddle, I'm basically always angry (laughs). I wake up thinking, why do I have work starting at 10 AM?! Urgggh!" The cast thoughtfully answered all fan questions.

Next up is a special segment. To celebrate the animation's streaming debut, a special "Twisted Wonderland Animation Official FUN Site" was launched, featuring an interactive "Twisted Wonderland Animation Rose Meter." This meter, displayed in real-time on a venue screen, increased with SNS posts using specific hashtags, captivating the audience.

The interactive feature generated considerable excitement, with the venue buzzing as the "Rose Meter" continuously updated. The voice cast encouraged participation, urging everyone to "aim for 81,000 roses in honor of Hearts!" This call to action fostered a strong sense of unity among attendees.

The event concluded with powerful closing remarks. Sugiyama expressed his enthusiasm: "'Twisted Wonderland,' long beloved, is finally animated and it turns out absolutely wonderful. Please continue to support both the game and the animation!"

Azakami, grateful for his role, stated, "Having the fortunate opportunity to encounter the character Yuuken Enma as a voice actor and deliver this work to everyone—I'm truly honored."

Introduction

The animation is based on the popular game “Disney Twisted-Wonderland,” which boasts original concepts, main scenarios, and character designs by manga artist Yana Toboso, renowned for “Black Butler.” The game's unique blend of Disney Villain essence and an intricately designed magic training school setting has garnered a growing fanbase.

Following the streaming of Season 1, "Episode of Heartslabyul," based on the manga adaptation, Seasons 2 and 3, titled "Episode of Savanaclaw" and "Episode of Octavinelle" respectively, are confirmed to be in production.

Story

Inspired by Disney Villains, a dark fantasy animation introduces Yuuken, a high school student who unexpectedly finds himself at Night Raven College, a prestigious magic training school with seven dormitories. His new life in this alternate world begins as he visits Heartslabyul Dorm with Grim, a monster he met at the school. There, they encounter Riddle, the dorm leader feared as the "Crimson Tyrant," who rigorously enforces the rules of the Queen of Hearts upon the dorm members.

Why did Riddle become such a strict tyrant? Through his interactions with Yuuken and the others, the destiny of the dorm members, previously constrained by these rules, slowly begins to transform.
