TOKYO - Japan's Ayumu Hirano, the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the men's snowboard halfpipe, suffered multiple fractures and bruises at a World Cup event in Switzerland on Saturday, the Ski Association of Japan said.
The association, however, said Wednesday that no bone misalignments were found during Monday's checkup in Japan and that the 27-year-old will resume training in phases once the swelling and pain subside, aiming to join his fellow Japan representatives for the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
