MILAN - After one mistake robbed her of a chance at gold, Kaori Sakamoto could not help but wonder what could have been in her final Olympic appearance.

Sitting second after a strong short program only behind her junior compatriot Ami Nakai, the 25-year-old, who has indicated this is her last competitive season, had a fairytale ending to her Olympic career in her sights.
