MIAMI, Florida - Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start for Japan in Saturday's World Baseball Classic quarterfinal against Venezuela at Miami's loanDepot park, a place of "fond memories" for the defending champion and especially superstar Shohei Ohtani.
Japan skipper Hirokazu Ibata on Thursday named Yamamoto as the starting pitcher for the last-eight clash pitting the unbeaten Pool C winner against a Venezuela outfit that finished runner-up in Pool D following Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Dominican Republic.
