MIAMI, Florida - Wilyer Abreu launched a go-ahead, three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning as Venezuela came back to beat Japan 8-5 and eliminate the defending champion at the quarterfinal stage of the World Baseball Classic in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Japan's defeat in the see-saw battle in front of 34,548 at Miami's loanDepot park ended the record three-time champion's streak of advancing to the semifinals in every edition of the tournament.
