LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani blasted a leadoff home run and threw six no-hit innings in another stellar two-way performance during Wednesday's 4-1 win against the Colorado Rockies.

The National League West leaders took the no-hitter into the eighth inning on the way to sweeping the three-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Ohtani (5-2) outdueled Samurai Japan teammate Tomoyuki Sugano (4-4), striking out seven, walking four and allowing one earned run, while going 1-for-4 at the plate.

The reigning NL MVP took just three pitches to put Los Angeles on the board, launching Sugano's four-seam fastball an estimated 424 feet (129 meters) over center field.

Freddie Freeman also belted a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give Los Angeles a 2-0 lead.

Ohtani gave up Colorado's only run on back-to-back groundouts in the top of the fourth after he put runners on base with a walk and a hit batsman.

Sugano was pulled after 4-2/3 innings in which he allowed three runs on six hits and one walks, while striking out three.

In other Major League Baseball action, Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami homered for the third straight game and took his tally to 20 for the season, tied for first in the American League, in a 15-2 win against the Minnesota Twins.

With his seventh-inning solo bomb, he became just the second Japanese player, after Ohtani, with 20 home runs in his MLB rookie season.

Fellow rookie Kazuma Okamoto launched a go-ahead solo home run for the Toronto Blue Jays in a 2-1 win over the Miami Marlins at Rogers Centre. The sixth-inning blast was Okamoto's 11th home run of the season and his first since May 5.
