Japan's real wages in May rose 1.4 percent from a year earlier, increasing for the fifth straight month and marking the longest positive streak since a seven-month run in 2021, reflecting robust labor-management negotiations, government data showed Tuesday.

Nominal wages per worker, including base and overtime pay, were up 3.2 percent at 311,165 yen ($1,900), marking the fourth straight month of growth surpassing 3 percent for the first time in more than 34 years, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said.
