CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami, currently on the injured list, is expected to return to the Major League Baseball roster on Friday, having made his final adjustments in a minor league rehab game.
Batting second and playing first base, Murakami hit a run-scoring double in the first inning in a game with the White Sox's Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
The left-handed hitter went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his full-game appearance against Nashville in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"It was the biggest takeaway that I was able to play for nine innings," the 26-year-old said. "I was able to reach base and run."
Murakami has been on the injured list since late May with a right hamstring strain, aiming for a return to Chicago's roster during the upcoming home series against the Athletics.
The former Yakult Swallows standout has played 57 games in his MLB rookie season, averaging .240 with 20 home runs and 41 RBIs.
