LOS ANGELES - Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw 6-1/3 innings of two-run ball but did not factor in the decision as the Los Angeles Dodgers walked off the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 in 10 innings on Friday.
The 2025 World Series MVP allowed five hits and a walk, while striking out nine at Dodger Stadium.
But Yamamoto's bid for a 13th win of the season was denied when Dodgers reliever Kyle Hurt surrendered a game-tying two-run homer to Oneil Cruz in the eighth inning.
Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani singled to center and finished 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base.
Toronto Blue Jays slugger Kazuma Okamoto singled to left field to extend his hitting streak to seven games in his club's 3-1 loss to the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
"I'm trying to hang in there and keep it going somehow," the Japanese rookie said of his streak. "I'll do my best again next time."
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, who has been placed on the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation since late April, is likely to start Sunday against the Texas Rangers, his club said on its website.
