CHICAGO - Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs for the first time this season, but the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered their sixth consecutive defeat in a 7-6 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
Cubs starter Shota Imanaga picked up a win after pitching five innings of one-run ball at Wrigley Field.
Ohtani launched a lead-off solo homer off Imanaga (8-9) and added a two-run shot off reliever Ryan Zeferjahn in the eighth for his 25th and 26th homers of the season.
"The trajectories of both (home runs) were rather low, and I'm not sure they would have cleared the fence in other ballparks," said Ohtani, who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
"They weren't perfect home runs, but I feel like I'm reacting well to pitches in good locations."
Lefty Imanaga surrendered a run on eight hits while striking out six.
Imanaga's teammate, right fielder Seiya Suzuki, doubled to left field in the fourth to finish 1-for-5.
In other Major League Baseball action, Tomoyuki Sugano was charged with his first loss since late May as the Colorado Rockies fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0.
Sugano allowed three runs on five hits, including a solo homer, and two walks, while fanning three at Coors Field.
