TOKYO - U.S. tech giant Google LLC opened its first official store outside the United States in Tokyo on Thursday, at which customers can purchase new Pixel smartphones, Nest products and exclusive goods.
"Japan is a highly critical market for the Google Pixel portfolio, where we are seeing rapid and enthusiastic growth in users," Mauria Finley, vice president of Google Store, said at an opening event.
"We warmly invite all of you to come in, play, and explore a space filled with Google's technology and passion," she said.
Visitors to the three-floor Google Store Omotesando, housed in the Tokyu Plaza, will be able to experience the company's cutting-edge AI technology on the second floor and receive repair and support services for smartphones and other products on the basement floor.
In addition to purchasing smartphones and other products on the first floor, people can pick up items ordered online and attend various events, according to Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc.
The company currently operates 10 Google Stores in the United States, including in California and New York.
