URGENT: Chinese delegation visits disputed island off Japan's Hokkaido

MOSCOW - A delegation from the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang has visited one of the islands at the heart of a dispute between Japan and Russia, authorities in Sakhalin, Russia's Far East said Tuesday.

Etorofu is one of the four islands, called the Northern Territories in Japan and the Southern Kurils in Russia, located off Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido.
