NAGOYA - Aichi Gov. Hideaki Omura vowed Saturday to prevent operational problems at the Asian Para Games after a series of mishaps marred the preceding Asian Games.

"We will strengthen our operational checks and thoroughly share information to ensure there are no problems," Omura, who heads the organizing committee for both events, told a news conference.

"We will make every effort to ensure (athletes) can compete with peace of mind," he said.

The organizing committee came under fire for a string of operational errors during the Asian Games, held from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, including the playing of the wrong national anthem and disruptions to shuttle bus services for athletes.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games will run from Sunday through Oct. 24.
