Spanish authorities said Monday that another Japanese has been confirmed dead after a train slammed into a stationary train in central Spain last week.
The Japanese government said Monday that one Japanese was confirmed dead and another was likely among the unidentified foreign victims of the accident on the Madrid-Seville high-speed line near Toledo on Wednesday.
Spanish authorities said 54 Spanish nationals and 15 foreigners were killed. A computer system malfunction automatically stopped six trains on the line and a rail control center told the driver of the following train to depart, despite a red signal, while the safety system was still down.
