Japan to hold scaled-back ceremony on 10th anniv. of quake-tsunami disaster

The government said Tuesday it will hold a memorial service next week to mark the 10th anniversary of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan but that it will be scaled back due to the coronavirus pandemic.The state-sponsored ceremony will be held on March 11 at the National Theatre in Tokyo following a cancellation last year due to the virus situation in Japan, according to Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato.However, Kato said the event will be the last in its current form and that future memorial events will depend on the situation at the time.Emperor Nar…READ FULL ARTICLE
