M6.1 quake strikes off central Japan, jolts Fukushima, Ibaraki

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 struck off the coast of central Japan on Monday, although tremors were felt strongest in the eastern prefectures of Fukushima and Ibaraki, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.The quake occurred around 5:09 p.m., measuring 4 on Japan's seismic intensity scale of 7 in parts of the two prefectures.
