TOKYO - Japan's main opposition party, the Centrist Reform Alliance, lost a significant number of seats in Sunday's House of Representatives election, triggering criticism of its leadership less than a month after its launch.

Yoshihiko Noda and Tetsuo Saito hinted at resigning as the alliance's co-leaders, with both saying they have already made up their minds to take responsibility for the loss as Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's ruling party headed for a landslide victory.
