BEIJING - Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has been promoted within the ruling Workers' Party of Korea to department chief during its congress, state-run media said Tuesday.
Having previously served as a vice department director, she was elevated to the post at the party Central Committee on Monday, the fifth day of the key party gathering held every five years, according to the official Korean Central News Agency.
