The undisputed king of anime, manga, and gaming retail with 125 stores spanning all 47 prefectures in Japan, animate, has just dropped some massive news. A brand-new location, animate DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, is officially coming to the Tokyo waterfront in early December 2026!
The store will be located in the iconic DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, a massive multi-purpose complex in the Tokyo Waterfront City (Odaiba) district designed around the concept of a “theatrical city space.” If you’re planning a visit, you’ll find the new animate on the 5th floor, conveniently located just a quick escalator ride up from the West Atrium near the Festival Gate and Zepp Gate.
This is a milestone for the franchise, marking the first time in roughly 11 years that a brand-new animate store has opened within the Tokyo metropolitan area. Its location is a dream come true for international tourists and fans attending live events at the nearby concert halls. Whether you’re there to see the life-sized Gundam or catch a show, you’ll now have a world-class anime shop right in the neighborhood. Details regarding the exact opening day and special commemorative campaigns will be announced at a later date, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!
