WASHINGTON - A bipartisan group of U.S. House of Representatives members has filed a resolution condemning China's "coercive actions" against Japan in the wake of the Japanese prime minister's remarks on a potential Taiwan contingency.
The resolution, submitted Friday to the lower chamber, reaffirms the "ironclad commitment" of the United States to its security alliance with Japan and supports the Asian ally's sovereign right "to express views on matters of regional and international concern without fear of economic or military coercion."
