BELMONT, Michigan - Japanese golfer Miyu Yamashita won the Meijer LPGA Classic in a playoff Sunday following a stunning final-round charge.
The 24-year-old posted the low round of the tournament, an 8-under-par 64, to make up a five-stroke deficit and force the playoff against England's Lottie Woad at Blythefield Country Club.
The pair returned to the par five, 18th tee for the first playoff hole, where the 2025 Rookie of the Year sealed her third LPGA title and first on U.S. soil with a birdie.
"My form has finally started to improve this season, so I'm happy it led to a victory," said Yamashita, who finished at 17-under 271 for the tournament.
"I was nervous on the final putt in the playoff. I'm delighted to get my first win in the United States."
Among the other Japanese in the field, Minami Katsu tied for seventh at 13 under and Rio Takeda finished a further two strokes back in a tie for 10th.
