DETROIT - Munetaka Murakami blasted a go-ahead two-run homer as the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 7-5 to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday.

Murakami launched his 28th home run of the season over the left-field fence in the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie, going 1-for-5 with two RBIs at Comerica Park.

"My hit gave us the lead, but this was a win earned by the entire team," the 26-year-old rookie said. "Not a single player felt we were going to lose."

In other Major League Baseball action, Kodai Senga struck out two in a hitless, scoreless ninth inning to earn his third save this year as the New York Mets held off the Washington Nationals 4-3.

Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox said designated hitter Masataka Yoshida was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

Yoshida, who had been swinging the bat well after the All-Star break, was sidelined after hitting a double in Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The left-handed hitter is batting .274 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 87 games this season.

The Japanese player said he suffered a similar injury before in nearly the same area and it took about a month for him to return, according to MLB.com.
